Let's All Go To The Movies - The Thing


Moments into this tense scene, James Arness, dressed as a giant carrot, bursts through a door at the end of the hall.

The "alien" make-up was so hokey, the director cut out all close-up shots of Arness resulting in an even more mysterious and certainly scarier character.

The movie, one of the most frightening of the '50's BEM (Bug Eyed Monster) era was remade in 1982 with color and special effects and closer to "a" list actors (Kurt Russell). The result wasn't nearly as scary
