Sepia Saturday - Wading Shin Deep

For this Sepia Saturday Suggestion

Without taking a scientific survey, I would venture that the single most common event for a camera to be included is a day at the beach. And there are certainly a lot of pictures taken at the old swimming hole or the city pool. There is a large collection of beach photographs in LOST GALLERY, almost 600 photographs so far. Many of them are of people just standing in the water.

So today for Sepia Saturday, lets create a new exhibit just for people standing shin deep in water.

No, not chin deep. Not elbow deep or ankle deep. Not waist deep or knee deep either.

They must be shin deep.

You know, committed but not certain. Eager but Wary. Reserving a bit. Testing. You know the type.

If you have further interest in elbow deep, ankle deep, waist deep, knee deep and a few other depths, test out these other lost gallery pages:

These two are from an itinerant beach photographer. The first one in the next row is also.

Wading on a long hike with the reverse

Well, I am not sure that this pair ever actually went into that water. It looks as if it is moving pretty fast. I think it may be just a pose. If they had tried to wade into that stream up to their shins, I think they would be up to their necks very quickly.

The reverse reads: "Ruth Stevenson and my self wading (on a) day when we were on a long hike."

Yes. Sure. A long hike. Just look at those rugged hiking togs.

So now, wade on back to the Sepia Saturday home page and find out who else is in the water.

Sepia Saturday - The Wedding Photograph

This week the Sepia Saturday Suggestion appears to be about weddings. That could be an easy one. One of the occasions in life where cameras are almost always included is a wedding. But, wedding pictures are not cast out or abandoned as much as photographs of other occasions. Somebody wants to keep them. It's one of the few times that both parents appear in the same frame, so wedding pictures are often treasured down through generations.

But, LOST GALLERY does have a few abandoned photographs taken apparently on a wedding day. So for this Sepia Saturday, lets look at some photographs taken probably at or after that special occasion.

Enhancement - Looking for Lost Details - June 2014 - 2

For some, an old photograph loses its charm when "restored" to modern day clarity with all the age spots removed. Some photographs however, benefit greatly from just a nudge of enhancement.

An improved contrast or the reversal of the yellowing brings out details that otherwise would have been missed and lost forever.

To please both camps of those who rescue old photographs, here are both the originals and the enhanced of just a few of the latest additions to Lost Gallery.

Again, there are some really good examples this month, where a little boost made a great difference. As always, little or nothing has been "repaired" but just enhanced a bit.
