Enhancement - Looking For Lost Details

For some, an old photograph loses its charm when "restored" to modern day clarity with all the age spots removed. Some photographs however, benefit greatly from just a nudge of enhancement. An improved contrast or the reversal of the yellowing brings out details that otherwise would have been missed and lost forever.

Beyond that, there are no tears patched, spots removed or missing areas replaced. No restorations. These scars were earned along the way in its gourney to our time. They are part of its story.

To please both camps of those of us who rescue old photographs, here are both the originals and the enhanced of just a few of the latest additions to Lost Gallery.

Back Page - Wheelbarrow

Six girls and

Here is a NEW PAGE!

This photograph turned up recently. It was a bit out of place in an envelope full of portraits. There must be other photographs on LOST GALLERY that feature a wheelbarrow. Let's see how many turn up.

Yes yes, these are just play-like wheel barrows.

Just a wheel barrow in the garden

Have you noticed that when you see a wheel barrow in a photograph, there is usually some hijinks going on instead of work?

Here is a NEW PAGE!
This is a page for IDENTIFIED PHOTOGRAPHERS.
So many rescued photographs, even studio portraits, have no known photographer.

There are a few with the photographer's name or studio imprinted on the photo somewhere. But that still doesn't help research on photographers because internet search engines cannot read the name printed on the photograph. The photographer’s name in print must accompany the photograph.

So here's the first group. Eventually every LOST GALLERY cabinet card photograph that has an identified professional photographer will be posted to this page. A project page for the CDV and other formats will come along later.

Hopefully, this will help make some connections.
