I have always felt that we collectors of "Lost" photographs were really "rescuing" old photographs. Really they are not lost anymore. They have been found and saved. When a small town newspaper updated their system of receiving photographs from the wire service by laser-fax, a large box of a few hundred AP laser-fax photographs was rescued from the dumpster. Yeah, well... These then really are rescued photographs.
