I have a couple from WW1 taken in front of tents at a base taken by my grandmother. They're very odd. Oh how I wish she were here to answer my questions now.

Yes, that is a good one. She may indeed have been an actress. This shot comes from a group of snapshots found in two batches, in two states and nearly a year apart. It is one of my most fascinating finds.

And yes. I have seen a few photographs like yours and wished a grandparent were around to fill in the details. A photo is supposed to be worth a thousand words but sometimes that is just not enough
