Very often, notations on the reverse of these found photographs are obscure or too brief or illegible. Most often there is nothing at all.
But now and then there is a message from the past that sparkles.
Back in March of 2009 LOST GALLERY had a full page of photographs and their very interesting reverse sides. There have been many new additions to the collection since then.
Here is a new group of those photographs with mysterious, funny and sometimes puzzling reverse sides; tiny bits of history, reaching out to us over the decades and sometimes centuries.

This old cabinet card didn't restore very well. The contrast recovered fairly well but most of the detail was still lost. The subject is so interesting however, I posted it anyway. And although there are several photographs of the Sutherland Sisters to be found on the web, I have not found one exactly like this one. I did find a post that was apparently taken at the same session as this one but it is not identical.

It's Abercynon in Wales. The costumes with the tall black hat over a lace cap is called the Welsh National Costume. I believe Abercynon was in the former county of Glamorganshire which is probably what's meant by the "Glam" at the end.
