Sepia Saturday - Aprons and Bib Overalls

The Sepia Saturday Suggestion this week is a photograph of a couple women wearing aprons.

LOST GALLERY had only a few snapshots that included an apron, although some are quite interesting.

So, why don't we include some of the photographs that show bib-overalls. They are a bit like an apron, aren't they?

Yeah, I wondered about that too.

THE KIDS Lesson one. It is always a mystery how a photograph of any of these precious children could end up lost or abandoned. Here are a few. You will probably say "Ooh..." at least once.

  1. Gosh these are all first rate. The first boy is a lost treasure and the school children group is priceless.
In fact all of them (except for the one from Germany) positively glow with the spirit of the American heartland.

    1. Thanks Alan Burnett. There weren't as many as I thought I had. But these are pretty interesting.

  3. Great stuff - funny, it seems like today no one would put up with being photographed in an apron! But back then it was nothing to be ashamed of.

    1. Thanks Sean Bentley. I know exactly what you mean. I spent several years as a traveling supervisor for a restaurant chain. I thought nothing of donning a big apron over my dress shirt and tie to help out in a kitchen during a rush. But, I was often the subject of photographs and kidding. There is an odd stigma to aprons now. As you say, in older times it was just part of the day.
