Flickr watches the total visits to each photograph posted. Then the number of comments is factored in. The number of galleries a photograph has been added to is considered and the number of times a photograph has been added to a “Favorite” list. All of these numbers are gathered and somehow combined with how FAST all this happens and the result is called “Interestingness.” The effect will leave a photograph that gets a 1,000 visits over a year not as "Interesting" as a photograph that got 300 visits in a month.
They list 100 the most “Interesting” each day, gathered from all the members.
The top 100 within a member’s stream can also be calculated.
Here then are the top 20 most “interesting” FOUND PHOTOGRAPHS in the anyjazz65 photostream.
Starting with number Twenty ...
Lesson one
Here a small child is giving lessons in how to solve the problems of the world. Share and Trust. Smile and Love.
Odd, how it seems only a child knows and understands these truths.
Bessie couldn’t help it any more than you could, or I could
Bessie couldn’t help it though she tried to be good, Oh! So good.
She was pretty as the heavens above
Oh! Boy but how that girl could love
Bessie had affection that was simply wonderful, wonderful!
But Bessie couldn’t help it any more than you could or I could.
When she smiled you were bound to fall, that’s all
A boy kissed Bessie in the back seat one night
Why, oh why did she yell with delight?
Bessie couldn’t help it any more than you could, or I could

Camera, Girl, an understanding.
Once in a while an individual comes along that the camera loves and gets loved back. We call it photogenic. The love affair with the camera. We can remember only a few who really had this gift.
Now here is an interesting item.
At the end of a long trail ride, four cowboys got a buzz at the local saloon and decided to commemorate the event by having their picture taken at the photographer’s studio just down the street.
Well, probably not. It seems to be a fake. But, how fake is it?
First of all, all four are wearing dress ties under their bandannas. Three of them are wearing suit coats all tucked in under their gun belts and chaps. The one on the left even has a kerchief peeking out of his breast pocket.

Hiram Ark. 1907
Fortney could not believe his ears. It took several minutes of silence before he found his wits and voice. The photographer was poised to take their picture in front of the homestead. Why had Glenda chosen just this moment to make her announcement?
“You can’t be serious.” He said at last, knowing full well she was.
Glenda set her jaw and ignored him. After all, she bought and paid for the hammock. It was hers.
Fortney could have BOTH the chairs, she fumed, AND his stupid dog. And the stupid cotton that he’d planted all over the stupid front yard. Stupid idea.
But the mail-order hammock was hers. And after the photographer was finished, she was going to install herself in it with a glass of lemonade and that new romance novel about the adventures of Buck the gay blacksmith and his anvil.
Fortney however, had other plans. They involved pickled onions and two tickets to Pittsburgh! No one was going to stop him. Not even the dog.
Watching all this from under the porch, Blame, the dog sighed with apprehension. Blame knew from the sound of Fortney’s voice that there would be no plate of table scraps tonight. He would have to hunt for something to eat. The chase for a rabbit was always too exhausting, especially in the pesky cotton plants that covered the whole area.
Blame plotted a severe revenge for this. Fortney’s floppy house slippers would be the target. One of them would disappear tonight, the smelly one. It was only fair.
Dogs are always fair.
Charles Bender, the town librarian, (not pictured) didn’t know about any of this, which was all right with him.
Mail order bride
Now, the first question that comes to mind is the ethnicity of this group. The clothes do not all agree.
The spaces between the people raise the next questions.
Why is one man standing almost hidden behind the post?
It is printed just as you see it on a nearly square paper. It is not mounted. There is nothing on the reverse.

HATS FOR EVERYONE
Our house is a very, very, very fine house
With two cats in the yard,
Life used to be so hard,
Now everything is easy 'cause of you. -(CSN)-

Laura is the face in the misty light
Footsteps that you hear down the hall
The laugh that floats on a summer night
That you can never quite recall
And you see Laura on a train that is passing through
Those eyes, how familiar they seem
She gave your very first kiss to you
That was Laura, but she's only a dream
She gave your very first kiss to you
That was Laura, but she's only a dream

One of my personal favorites, it has been visited almost 1,500 times since February of 2008.
I spit in my sister's chocolate milk... -:(Lilly Tomlin):-
Okay, okay. The one on the left has Katherine Hepburn hair but the one on the right has that Gene Tierney overbite that Hawkeye loved and that provocative Cameron Diaz upper lip. And they're probably not even sisters.
Since November of 2006 the sisters have been visited 2,400 times.
The family. Life is hard.
Somewhere a little girl is wondering what her great-great grand parents looked like.
I still cannot understand why these old treasures get into this shape. I gave it just a bit of PS for clarity but left most of it untouched to show how poorly it has been treated.
To be fair, maybe it got caught in a flood or a fire, beyond their control. But, scratches, broken corners and mildew kind of indicate a lack of general care.
This photograph, originally posted in August of 2006 has been visited 2,500 times.
O. J. Bruton, now fully recovered from his bicycle injury has made a life changing decision. "Maw, I'm agoing over to France to that bike race. I'll be back tomorrow. Hope my feet will reach the pedals now."

This is thought to be the only surviving picture of Honor Knightly (aka “Satin”) the elusive department store heiress and stenographer for the Kairian Luncheon Club. Thorne Smith thought very highly of her but she still faded into obscurity behind Cosmo Topper and the ghost-dog, Neil. She was quite fond of changing clothes and of gentlemen standing in doorways to avoid the rain.
(That’s for those of you who read.)
The REST of the story...
This photograph has been visited nearly 2,000 times on Flickr.
The following is the original caption:
"I had to look a long time to find this car. I finally found one picture using google that identified it as a 1942 Chrysler.
It is probably a brand new car. It was purchased at Kavarno motors in California. Unusual name. Google found an Isak Kavarno who imigrated from Norway and worked for General Motors in Santa Barbara, California.
And Bonnie or maybe Mabel, blinked... She was dressed nice though. Pin-stiripe suit and strappy high heels. She is probably a little upset right now. She doesn't know whether her boyfriend is taking a picture of her or his new car. I think she's a bit miffed.
Her boyfriend smoothes it out though and 20 odd years later Lennon and McCartney will write a song about it...Baby, you can drive my car."

This photograph was first posted on Flickr January 24, 2007. It has been visited more than 5,300 times.
The unusually sharp detail of the photograph has provided many clues. But we still don’t know if it is a picture of Bonnie or the car, a 1942 Chrysler. Or indeed, if it is Bonnie or maybe Mabel.
There is still no explanation for the mysterious popularity of this photograph.
There are now more than 4,000 photographs in the Lost Gallery.
