Getting them together

child on porch

When this picture turned up recently, memory kicked in with a reminder that this might have been seen before.
It took some hunting but this similar one turned up finally from a couple years back.

Turns out it's only similar.
The angle of the shot, the board walk, the square post and buildings in the background.
One is a boardwalk in a town and the other seems to be a porch at a farm house.

Operating the Telephone

Girl at the phone office -

Well. Here is a category I hadn't thought of before.
Telephone Operators.

Someone commented on the picture to the left and it struck me that I have ANOTHER picture of a telephone operator somewhere.

I searched the Gallery files and found this one.
Note the Saddle Shoes.

So I decided to do a page where the telephone plays some part of the photograph.

Operator, Operator...

On the phone
"No. No, Cecil can't come to the phone right now.
He's ...tied up."
Hello
A little "Afternoon Delight?" What's that?

Remember when the telephone was always attached to the wall?
Grace.
Now, they seem to be always attached to an ear.

THE KIDS Lesson one.
It is always a mystery to us how a photograph of any of these precious children could end up lost or abandoned. Here are a few. You will probably say "Ooh..." at least once.

Fake Fight

The FAKE FIGHT.
Here is a pose one sees often.
It's a pair of friends pretending to fight.
Why is that popular?

By the sea - two guys spar

At the beach - Book of Prints with Negatives

Two girls on the steps

This is probably the oldest of the "Fake Fight" photographs that could be found in this collection.

Maybe this is the original idea!

Did all of these people think that it was their own original idea? Or did each take a cue from an older photograph they had seen?

What do you think? Have you seen one like this?
